A full face to face course is completed entirely with a trainer, both the theory and the practical. Eg. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid - 7.5hrs
The online with practical face to face is where the theory component is completed online at the students own pace and in their own time in the comfort of their own home/work. The practical is then a shorter time frame with a trainer focusing on all the practical elements required. Eg. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid 5.- 5.5hrs theory online and 2hrs practical

Yes you need a USI.
“A USI is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of your vocational education and training (VET) undertaken in Australia.
If you're at university, TAFE or doing other nationally recognised training, you need a USI. Without one, you can't get Commonwealth financial assistance or your qualification or statement of attainment.
If you have completed any training since 2015 you may already have one.
Visit usi.gov.au to create a USI or to check if you already have one
